Project Brief

DAME Build completed a residential fitout, which included a main bathroom and an ensuite bathroom refresh in Bastings Street, Northcote. Despite the spatial challenges of fitting a bathtub into the ensuite, we introduced innovative solutions, including a combined bath-and-shower design. Both the ensuite and main bathroom now showcase refined finishes, clever layouts, and a modern design that enhances everyday comfort.

Client Brief

The homeowners asked DAME Build to design their bathrooms to be both modern and refreshing. They desired natural elements, such as wood and greenery, to soften the spaces and to complement the space while adding dark-toned tapware and accessories for subtle contrast. The ensuite needed to include a bathtub within a compact layout, while the main bathroom required a complete update to improve brightness, functionality, and everyday comfort. Throughout the project, the team collaborated closely with the homeowners to ensure that every design choice made the bathrooms practical, comfortable, and visually appealing for daily use.

Before

Design Stage

The bathroom renovation design was developed through a structured and collaborative process. DAME Build guided the homeowners by using questionnaires, material samples, and detailed presentations. This approach helped the clients make confident and informed decisions at every stage. As a result, the homeowner's vision was successfully transformed by DAME Build into a finished design that seamlessly combined precision, functionality, and lasting appeal.

Main Bathroom Renovation

The main bathroom was designed around a simple yet refined concept, with the vanity as the focal point. Riverdale Beach Matt Tiles flow seamlessly across the floors and walls, creating a tactile, grounding base. A soft green accent of Lingotti Salvia Tiles frames the arched shaving cabinet, introducing a touch of elegance and balance to the space. The custom Natural Oak Laminex vanity with a concrete benchtop and integrated sink brings warmth and texture, while the gunmetal tapware, accessories, and a frameless glass shower screen deliver crisp and modern lines. A Tornado wall-faced toilet completes the look with contemporary simplicity.

Recessed LEDs were layered throughout, accentuating each surface, deepening the concrete tones, softening the glossy green tiles, and highlighting the warmth of the natural oak. The result is a fresh, balanced bathroom that feels calm and contemporary.

Master Ensuite Bathroom Renovation

The ensuite bathroom posed a challenge, as a bathtub needed to fit within a compact layout. The Shenseki Inset Bath combined comfort and practicality in the ensuite. Compact yet thoughtfully designed, the Shenseki Inset Bath maximised internal depth, slip-resistant base, and contoured shape with integrated armrests and lumbar support, making it feel spacious and inviting despite its smaller footprint. A frameless 10mm glass over-bath shower screen was added to enhance both safety and functionality.

A large wall-hung Natural Oak Laminex cabinet anchors the room, complemented by a concrete benchtop and integrated sink that balance warmth with generous storage. A three-door oval shaving cabinet sits above, providing mirrored practicality and a touch of softness that offsets the ensuite’s strong lines. Consistency with the main bathroom is expressed in the sleek Tornado toilet and tile choices. To enhance everyday luxury, the client opted for smart-controlled heated towel rails. The large window fills the ensuite with natural daylight, enhancing the brightness and depth of the finishes. By evening, recessed LED lighting keeps the space warm, inviting, and functional.
