DAME Build has recently completed an extensive commercial and medical fit-out for Melbourne NeuroCare at 2 Bridge Road, Richmond. This project highlights our expertise in creating functional and aesthetically pleasing healthcare spaces. We transformed an empty area into a modern neuro center tailored to meet the specific needs of both the client and their patients.
Before
Design Stage
Our goal is to create a clinic that radiates warmth, professionalism, and calm, transforming it into a sanctuary within the medical setting. The minimalist design features soft, neutral colours and an efficient layout for patient and staff movement. Large windows in the reception area and consultation rooms provide natural light, while carefully planned artificial lighting enhances the atmosphere. We’ve selected durable, low-maintenance finishes to ensure the clinic remains aesthetically pleasing and functional.
Structural Work
The transformation began with careful planning and structural upgrades to create a strong foundation for design and functionality. Insulated partition walls and smooth plasterboard ceilings provide modern lines, while aluminium skirting adds a polished touch. Coved vinyl flooring extends seamlessly through high-traffic areas, ensuring hygiene and easy maintenance. Splashbacks in consultation rooms, the kitchen, and utility areas offer practical, durable surfaces while maintaining visual cohesion.
Reception & Waiting Area Renovation
The reception area, anchored by the sculptural DAME Ava Reception Desk, creates a refined and inviting environment. Comfortable lounge seating, minimalist tables, and carefully selected greenery soften the space. Expansive windows and thoughtfully layered lighting, which combine natural daylight with accent fixtures, illuminate the area and highlight architectural details. The result is an open and welcoming atmosphere that helps put patients at ease.
Consulting Rooms Renovation
Each consultation room is carefully designed for comfort and precision. Large windows allow natural light to enter, enhanced by supplementary lighting that fosters a calming atmosphere. Custom cabinetry, integrated sinks, DAME Furniture Milano Mid-back ergonomic chairs, doctors’ DAME Furniture Forum Desks, and medical beds are efficiently arranged.
DDA Compliant Bathroom Renovation
The clinic’s DDA Compliant Bathroom Renovation focuses on accessibility, hygiene, and thoughtful design for DDA compliance. Equipped with a modern ambulant toilet - Wolfen 800 Close Coupled Back to Wall Rimless Toilet Suite, which includes a backrest, 30° and straight handrails, a posh mirror, and matching fixtures for improved convenience and privacy.
Staff Kitchen Renovation
The clinic’s staff kitchen renovation features a custom-made kitchen cabinet with a durable White Laminex countertop, complemented by matching overhead cabinets in Rural Oak. A sleek chrome sink and a stainless steel faucet complete this polished and practical space for staff use.
Custom Cabinetry
Bespoke joinery balances style with practical storage. The custom-built DAME Ava Reception Desk sets a welcoming tone, while DAME Belle low storage cabinets in consultation rooms maintain visual consistency and organisation throughout the clinic.
Other improvements
Flooring & Finishes - All materials and finishes were chosen for their style and functionality. Durable vinyl flooring ensures easy cleaning, while aluminum skirting, careful caulking, and smooth door trims create a polished look. The white plasterboard ceiling and partitions provide a clean backdrop, allowing medical equipment and custom furniture to stand out without causing overstimulation
Climate Control & Ventilation - To ensure maximum comfort, we installed a Mitsubishi Heavy Industry 16kW ducted reverse-cycle system with Airtouch 5 smart controls, which features eight zoned temperature settings. We’ve strategically placed the vents to ensure even air circulation for patients and staff.
Security Systems - Patient and staff safety is supported by an integrated security system comprising eight high-definition cameras and a Wi-Fi-enabled alarm network. Discreet yet comprehensive, it provides peace of mind without compromising the clinic’s visual harmony.
Electrical and Plumbing - Plumbing installations include integrated sinks and taps in every room, designed to support infection control protocols. A full compliance body-protected electrical system was installed throughout the clinic, with all power points safeguarded by high-sensitivity safety switches that are especially engineered for medical environments. These switches immediately cut power in the event of earth leakage, providing an essential layer of protection for staff and patients during treatment. This system fully complies with Standard AS/NZS 3003:2011, a mandatory requirement for all medical and dental fit-outs.

In a neurology clinic, design isn't just aesthetic—it shapes the patient experience. Start with function, then layer in a neutral, calming palette to create a serene, timeless environment. Keep spaces open and uncluttered to reduce visual noise, allowing patients to feel instantly at ease. Harness natural light wherever possible—expansive reception windows and individual consultation room glazing connect the interior to the outdoors, easing anxiety and promoting wellbeing. Finish with materials that are both durable and refined, blending practicality with sophistication for a clinic that feels as reassuring as it looks.
