At DAME Build, we completed an exciting commercial fitout project for Bulleen Plaza Medical Centre in Melbourne. This comprehensive renovation transformed the medical practice into a modern facility, designed to enhance patient experience and streamline operations. Client Brief
The client's vision was to create a space that balanced professionalism with comfort, prioritizing both patient care and staff efficiency. Key requirements included creating a striking reception area to make a positive first impression, optimizing consultation rooms for privacy and functionality, improving staff workspaces to enhance productivity, updating restroom facilities, and implementing a modern, cohesive aesthetic throughout the centre.
Waiting Room Renovation
The centerpiece of our healthcare fitout was the custom-designed Ava Reception Desk with LED lighting. This impressive 6300mm wide desk, featuring side extensions, creates a welcoming focal point for patients entering the practice. We complemented the desk with commercial-grade chairs for staff comfort, a feature timber batten wall for visual interest, downlights to enhance the ambiance, and custom pole covers to conceal structural elements.
Floor Repair
To create a modern, easy-to-maintain surface, we removed existing tiles, installed polished concrete throughout the main areas, and added carpet in select zones for comfort and noise reduction.
Consultation Room Refresh
We outfitted the consultation rooms with custom-sized desks to maximize space efficiency, comfortable, AFRDI-approved patient chairs, storage solutions including Lunar metal pedestals, and modesty panels for added privacy.
Staff Workspace
For the staff workspaces, we provided ergonomic mesh chairs for doctor comfort, custom desks tailored to individual preferences, and a spacious kitchen bench in Victorian Ash hardwood.
Restroom Renovation
The restroom facilities received a complete overhaul, including new commercial-grade toilets, updated plumbing, and fresh tiling and waterproofing. Throughout the process, variations were incorporated to meet evolving needs like extra curved walls, a curved boardroom table edge, and additional labor.
Design Elements and Finishes
Throughout the medical fitout , we incorporated design elements to create a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. We used a calming color palette with feature wall accents, natural materials such as timber battens and hardwood surfaces, modern lighting solutions including LED and downlights, and durable, easy-to-clean surfaces for infection control.
The Results
The completed healthcare fitout at Bulleen Plaza Medical Centre showcases the power of thoughtful design in transforming medical spaces.
